Look who came to the studio for a photo session! One look at that smile and I knew we were going to have fun!

Jordan has a busy job as a marketing professional, and was recently tapped to join the Baraboo Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. They are lucky to have her!

Laura is off on another professional venture!

Her new gig required a "standard" headshot, but Laura is anything but standard. So we went above and beyond to create some fresh executive looks.

Need to update or refresh your headshot? Looking for studio OR location? Text or call me at 608 | 381-0777 and we'll make it happen!

A couple of weeks ago, Mike and Cooper brought their three Italian Spinone downtown for a studio session. I love these dogs!

The portrait of Rosie and Cooper is now one of my favorite painterly pet portraits. This breed is known for field work: tracking, pointing and retrieving. On this day, however, all three of them actually fell asleep in the studio.

Thank you Mike and Cooper, for bringing the girls downtown!

Guess whose senior album just came in?

It was a chilly day for a photoshoot, but this little one stayed toasty warm in her pink bundled outfit, topped with a sweet sugar plumb hat.

Spending lots of time editing (it's that time of the year!) means that I get to see some pretty awesome client photos! This shot wasn't planned for the family session, but - right place, right time!

From a picture to a portrait. One of the last photographs we made during Megan's senior session.

One of my favorite fall portraits. Thank you Brooke (and your fun entourage), for allowing me to create your senior portraits.

When the photographer is on the other side of the lens! A repeat (8 years later!) family session with some of my favorite people. Stay tuned for pics of the entire group!

Every high school senior has a story. One of the perks of my job is that I can help tell that story through imagery.

Jack has spent a lot of time farming with his dad. When I suggested we use one of their combines in a shot or two, I could tell his mom and dad were hesitant. A combine? A huge combine? (I love a good challenge.)

At the end of the day, we got a lot of really great portraits, including close-ups. But, taken just before sunset, this is one of my favorites. I can’t wait to see this photo printed on metal! (Note: Thanks to Jack’s mom, who helped coordinate the location and angle for the setup, and Jack’s dad, who spent a lot of time making that combine shine!)

Last night's senior session took us to the brand-spanking new Wisconsin Dells High School! An avid basketball player, Brooke was all in favor of including a sports action series as part of her session. This is just one image in that exciting series!

Katie's senior session started in the studio. Poms is her jam, so there was a lot of jumping and leaping at the beginning. (Wow!) We used those images in her montage wall portrait (more on that later!) Katie also brought one dance outfit: a beautiful, flowy rose dress. I put her in my antique velvet chair, took three shots, and I knew we had more than a photo. We had created a classic portrait. And it begged for a painterly treatment. (Not sure, but I think this is Katie's dad's favorite!)

What a brilliant session with Laura! We started with her corporate headshot, then made some more casual photos. Her smile lit up the studio!

I've always been fond of the west, so when our state PPA organized a shoot-out, complete with actors/models in western gear, I was quick to grab my camera. Thanks to Carl Caylor for the lighting inspiration on this character image.

Thank you Anne, for trusting me to capture your family photos!

Bill called me to update his headshot. He needed more than just a photo for his business card, so we went one step beyond and created photos for marketing, web and social media.

Heather needed an updated headshot for her marketing collateral. Mission accomplished! But then we went one step further with posing and lighting to create a business portrait. It's amazing how different angles and types of light can change a look! Is it time to update your image?

The best way to end a work week is with a laugh and a smile. Angie and I shared both last Friday during her studio headshot session!

The good news: she was able to choose her photograph right there in the studio. I edited the file later on, and it was ready for download.

The bad news: after winnowing down her favorites, she had more than one "keeper." Choosing was tough! (That is a good problem to have!)

Thanks, Angie!

It was the ultimate headshot-turned-personal-branding session. What could be more interesting — more colorful and positive — than photographing a creative entrepreneur in her own unique retail space?

If you know Bekah, you know she’s got at least six plates spinning at once. (She can replace them if they fall, but…)

There were beautiful “opportunities” around every corner. We captured a lot of great photos, but this is one of my favs.

Emily needed an updated headshot (don’t we all?), so we pulled together some looks in the studio, both contemporary and traditional, that will be perfect for the bio on her upcoming article.
But when I noticed her shoes…well, hello!
This photo isn’t cropped in the traditional headshot ratio, and I’ve added a touch of portrait-like editing, but I had to show it to her, because, well, the SHOES! Thank you, Emily!

The last headshot of the week is the first for a new project with Payroll Solutions/MBE CPAs! Thank you, Jessica, for brightening up the studio this afternoon!

New headshot for Erica!

One more of Hilary…

When I photographed this Mustang several years ago, I had no idea that it would become one of my favorite light paintings! It's an award-winner, and my clients will recognize it as one of the large metal wall portraits in my studio.

This process started at dusk; each highlight and subtle shadow was captured individually with an LED light. Over 100 exposures!

NOW is a great time to book a light painting session for yourself, or a friend. I love to photograph vehicles (hello Delton, Baraboo FD!), aircraft (my portfolio includes a racy Cirrus SR22 and a couple of classics that aviation aficionados will appreciate!) and even tabletop stills of important/family objects.

Had a great session with Hilary to update her classic headshot and create new modern business and casual portraits!

When I uploaded these photos from last weekend’s session, I thought of my dad. An avid amateur photographer, he took hundreds of photos of our family and developed the black and white prints in his darkroom.

Decades later, most of them still exist.

At the time, no one thought to coin the term “lifestyle photography.” They were just photographs of life. And that’s what I love about these.

Genuine giggles, smiles and expressions.

The everyday.

The irreplaceable.

Becky needed a fresh, new professional headshot! Her first image is classic. It's one of my favorites. And the second? We went in a totally different direction. And we got a look that really emphasizes her eyes! I give my clients as many options as possible during our headshot/portrait sessions! Little angle changes and light modifications can totally change the look of a portrait!

He’s always been a quiet sort of guy. Humble, with an elegant sense of humor. At 12, Parker still enjoys crawling under bushes, chasing his dog brother, and carrying great piles of leaves in his ears.
So it’s always a treat (for everyone) when he gets groomed. He comes home a different dog with a renewed spring in his step! (I’ve been tempted to ask for ID.)
Thank you, Sarah for taking such good care of Parker!
